Bunkers Only Calls - Portland

Strategically situated between Boston, St. John and Halifax, Portland offers a strategic opportunity for bunkers-only calls. An active bunkering market is already in place that currently services crude oil and product tankers, as well as the bulk ships working cargo operations. Portland’s geographic location, deep water structure, and low costs make it a viable fueling alternative for ships calling on the east coast of the U.S. and Canada. Ship operators are currently taking advantage of the availability of low sulfurIFO 380 for vessels destined for SECA areas or having other low sulfur fuel requirements. Portland’s location makes bunkers only calls extremely accessible:

 Three deep water anchorages

  •  (Draft up to 16.15 meters) with capability of supplying up to VLCC class.

ValvTect® Marine Gasoline

Marine engines face very challenging market environments. Sprague is proud to offer the ValvTect® Marine Gasoline brand to its customers. Marine gasoline engines tend to operate at much higher RPMs than traditional vehicle engines, thus they can consume ~10x more fuel per hour. Marine engines are also more susceptible to phase separation and corrosion caused by ethanol-blended gasoline (the standard for our cars and trucks).

Our ValvTect® gasoline is designed specifically for marine engines – designed to save your customers’ time and money as well as remove the potential problems from traditionally-used fuel additives.

As compared with automotive gasoline, ValvTect® offers numerous advantages:

ValvTect® Marine Diesel

Marine engines face very challenging market environments. Sprague is proud to offer the ValvTect® Marine Diesel brand to its customers. Today’s low and ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuels offer poor lubricity, contain high levels of moisture, destabilize more rapidly than older diesel versions and are more susceptible to bacterial growth and filter plugging than higher sulfur diesel.  The decreased lubrication may also result in premature injector and fuel pump wear as well.

ValvTect® diesel is specifically designed to counteract these factors and improve your customers’ operating environment, in part thanks to the inclusion of its BioGuard®  formulation.  ValvTect® premium diesel improves the engine lubricity and contains water dispersants, corrosion inhibitors and fuel stabilizers.

The ValvTect® with BioGuard® product does not require additional fuel additives to protect marine engines, eliminating any risk of improper additive use – saving time and money.

As compared with traditional commercial diesel, ValvTect® offers numerous advantages:
