August NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $3.700 on Friday, July 2nd

Friday, July 2nd saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $3.647, slightly below Thursday’s closing price of $3.661.  Marking an intraday low of $3.639 soon after the opening bell, the contract began a gradual ascent to cross midday near $3.680.  Marking an intraday high of $3.741 ahead of the long weekend, August closed higher on Friday at $3.700.

Please note the NYMEX trading floor was closed on Monday July 5, in observance of Independence Day.
The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published on Thursday showed a 76 BCF injection to storage for the week ended June 25th – above the market estimate of 67 BCF.  Total working gas in storage was reported as 2,558 BCF; 16.6% below this time last year and 5.3% below the five-year average.

As of 6:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $1.27; Natural Gas was up seven cents; Heating Oil was up three cents; and Gasoline was up two cents.
