August NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $3.614 on Thursday, July 15th

Thursday, July 15th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $3.633, three cents above Wednesday’s closing price of $3.660. Prices quickly rose to their intraday high of $3.683 at 10:10AM. After reaching the early high, prices fell steadily throughout the rest of the day, closing at the intraday low of $3.614.

The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published on Thursday showed a 55 BCF injection to storage for the week ended July 9th – above the market estimate of 50 BCF.  Total working gas in storage was reported as 2,631 BCF; 17.1% below this time last year and 6.7% below the five-year average.

As of 11:55AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up thirty-three cents; Natural Gas was up four cents; Heating Oil was up one cent; and Gasoline was up one cent.
