June NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $2.355 on Thursday, April 27th

Thursday, April 27th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.297, a penny below Wednesday’s closing price of $2.305. Trading along either side of the $2.325 level in the session’s opening ninety minutes, prices dipped to an intraday low of $2.285 as the weekly storage publication hit the wire. Ascending from this low until reaching the intraday high of $2.376 at 1:25PM, June closed higher on Thursday at $2.355.

The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published on Thursday showed a 79 BCF injection to storage for the week ended April 21 – in line with the market estimate of 78 BCF. Total working gas in storage was reported as 2,009 BCF; 35.4% above this time last year and 22.2% above the five-year average.

As of 7:20AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 41 cents; Natural Gas was down six cents; Heating Oil was down slightly; and Gasoline was up one cent.
