May NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $2.693 on Monday, April 9th

Monday, April 9th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $2.685, roughly two cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.701.  Rising modestly near $2.700 through 9:30AM, the contract soon faltered to reach the intraday low of $2.640 twenty minutes later.  Adding a penny by midday, traders weighed below average temperatures and inventory levels against healthy production and recently reduced consumption.  Launching upward to reach $2.690 by 2:00PM, May closed slightly lower on Monday at $2.693.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $1.29; Natural Gas was up two cents; Heating Oil was up three cents; and, Gasoline was up three cents.
