October NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $4.938 on Friday, September 10th

Friday, September 10th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $4.993, four cents below Thursday’s closing price of $5.031. Tallying an intraday high of $5.008 by 9:15AM, prices drifted lower throughout the session on Friday following a whirlwind week. Fundamentals remained largely unchanged. Marking an intraday low of $4.913 at 12:10PM, October closed lower on Friday at $4.938, up nearly 5% on the week.
 
The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published on Thursday showed a 52 BCF injection to storage for the week ended September 3rd – below the market estimate of 36 BCF. Total working gas in storage was reported as 2,923 BCF; 16.8% below this time last year and 7.4% below the five-year average.
 
As of 6:10AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 89 cents; Natural Gas was up three cents; Heating Oil was up two cents; and Gasoline was up two cents.
