September NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $3.914 on Friday, July 30th

Friday, July 30th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $3.942, nearly twelve cents below Thursday’s closing price of $4.059.  Marking the intraday high of $3.952 within minutes of 9:00AM, the contract then withdrew to mark an intraday low of $3.855 at 10:50AM. Recovering into the afternoon as fundamentals remain bullish, September closed lower on Friday at $3.914.

The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published on Thursday showed a 36 BCF injection to storage for the week ended July 23rd – below the market estimate of 47 BCF.  Total working gas in storage was reported as 2,714 BCF; 16.2% below this time last year and 5.8% below the five-year average.

As of 6:30AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $1.12; Natural Gas was up eight cents; Heating Oil was down two cents; and Gasoline was down three cents.
