Portsmouth, NH<\/strong> – Sprague Operating Resources LLC, “Sprague,” headquartered in Portsmouth, NH, <\/strong>is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2020, and in celebration plans to donate $150,000 to nonprofit organizations within its footprint.<\/p>\n

Each year, Sprague donates more than $100,000 to give back to the communities in which its employees live and work. This year, in honor of its 150th<\/sup> anniversary, Sprague will be donating at least $150,000.<\/p>\n

“We’re excited to be able to further support the local community during this important celebration,” said David Glendon, president and CEO at Sprague. “Charitable giving has long been a part of Sprague’s history, and we look forward to continuing that tradition over our next 150 years.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sprague focuses its charitable giving on projects and organizations that support children and the environment. Annually, its charitable program donates to dozens of nonprofits throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas. Sprague’s recent donation highlights include sponsoring the Seacoast Science Center’s H2<\/sub>0 Today exhibit (Rye, NH), contributing to Lifting Up Westchester’s Brighter Futures Summer Camp (White Plains, NY), and funding the Friends of Casco Bay’s Water Reporters program (South Portland, ME).<\/p>\n

The Sprague golf tournament also raises more than $150,000 annually for local chapters of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Employees at Sprague volunteer thousands of hours each year, as well, working with organizations across the Northeast through company-paid volunteer time. Its regular support of the United Way Day of Caring, as an example, sends dozens of employees to participate in community service activities.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1870, today Sprague is one of the largest independent suppliers of energy and materials handling services in the Northeast, with products including home heating oil, diesel fuels, residual fuels, gasoline, electricity and natural gas.<\/p>\n

“As we take time to reflect on our history and the changing energy landscape, it’s important to also look around at the many organizations in need of support,” said Glendon. “We’re fortunate to have the ability to fund so many great projects to help better the communities that have supported us over the last 150 years.”
