History

1929 - Kildair started by specializing in road transportation via Delangis Express.

1966 - Over the course of many years and generations the company expanded. In 1966, it acquired Kildair Service which specialized in regional transportation and soon thereafter focused its operations on trucks and semi-trailers leasing.

1980's - During the 1980s, Kildair diversified into the sale and transportation of petroleum products. This decade also marked the company’s expansion into general transportation. Wintergreen Transport Corporation Ltd was acquired in 1986 and the business now operates a fleet of 250 vehicles allowing Kildair to provide an effective and reliable complementary transportation service.

1988 - Kildair acquired from Hydro-Quebec a 108,000 square foot land property comprised of 3 tanks, buildings, two rail tracks, pipelines and an access right to their private dock.

1995-2001 Expansion at the terminal of 4 tanks ( park C)  for an additional storage capacity of 1 M barrels and introduction to the paving asphalt market.

2002 - Addition of the polymerisation plant for the production of modified liquid asphalt and construction of the quality control lab.

2007 - Kildair entered into a partnership when Sprague acquired 50% of the company.

2011 - Kildair acquired assets from Hydro-Québec in Sorel-Tracy, including seven storage tanks with 210,000 barrels of storage capacity each and a dock on the St-Lawrence Seaway increasing its storage capacity by 1.5 million barrels.

2012 - Sprague purchased the outstanding 50% of the company, resulting in 100% ownership.

2013 - Kildair entered into a long-term contract with a major integrated oil company for crude oil handling and storage utilizing the recently acquired Hydro-Quebec assets.

2014 - Kildair starts its operation of crude oil handling and storage.  Meanwhile, Sprague became a publicly traded Master Limited Partnership (MLP)  (NYSE: SRLP) and Kildair became an indirectly wholly-owned subsidiary of Sprague Resources LP.

2016 - Kildair invests in its tank farm by adapting and securing four 200k barrels tanks in order to obtain a license to store clean products, namely distillates. A membrane was installed to secure the premises in case of a spill. This investment provided Kildair with a greater capacity to become an active and competitive entity in the marine bunkering business.

2022 - Hartree Partners LP, a well-established global energy and commodities trading firm, after acquiring a majority of Sprague shares in 2021 through the purchase of the Axel Johnson Inc. shares, completed the Sprague/Kildair acquisition process by buying the remaining balance of public shares. After that transaction, Hartree opted to delist Sprague Energy and Kildair from the New York Stock Exchange. As a result, they became private companies again.

Kildair has grown from local transportation into a company specializing in the production, distribution and storage of heavy fuel, liquid asphalt and crude oil.
