Community Involvement

Kildair strives to be a good corporate citizen and recognizes the importance in giving back to the communities where we live and work. At Kildair, we believe that every little action can make a great difference. As a long-standing member of the Joliette and Sorel-Tracy communities, Kildair is proud to offer quality jobs in these areas.

Kildair is also proud to support local initiatives in line with its corporate values. Kildair has been supporting the Lanaudière United Way division for more than 15 years.

Since 2019, Kildair is also proud to support Statera, a local Sorel initiative promoting the ecosystem of the Sorel Islands and the St Lawrence River.

Being an active member of the marine industry, Kildair is a member and participates actively in the activities of the Grunt Club and the Société des Armateurs du St-Laurent. These local organizations aim to create a social network for individuals in the marine industry while being important actors in monitoring the evolution of the marine sector, whether to support its growth, its sustainability but also monitor its regulatory framework.

Shore Clean Up - 2020

In 2020, Kildair made the decision to focus more of their time and resources on giving back to the community. One of the activities they participated in was the World Cleanup Day (https://www.journee-mondiale.com/542/journee-mondiale-du-nettoyage.htm; https://www.worldcleanupday.org/) – which involved two beach clean-ups this year. This initiative was started in 2018 and is supported by different citizens, corporate and community groups, such as « Mission 100 tonnes » (https://www.mission100tonnes.com/)

Kildair partnered with other companies such as Fednav (organizers), Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), Urgence Marine and Montreal Youth of Shipping to clean the shores of Monseigneur J-A Richard park in Verdun, Montreal.

Moreover, with our strong connection to the Sorel-Tracy area, we organized our own events at the Regard sur le Fleuve and Maisouna parks. The city supported the initiative by identifying the areas in need of clean up and by provided the necessary equipment to help with the collection and proper disposal of trash.
