On Tuesday, March 27
th – settlement day for the April Contract – the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts opened at $2.640, two cents above Monday’s closing price of $2.618. Sustaining the contract’s pre-market momentum, prices rose gradually through the day to cross midday near $2.655 and notched the intraday high of $2.707 moments before settlement. Impacted by the last traces of winter weather and expectations for an above average storage withdrawal in the coming week, April settled higher on Tuesday at $2.691 while the May contract closed nearly six cents higher at $2.714.
This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 61 cents; Natural Gas was down one cent; Heating Oil was down slightly; and, Gasoline was down two cents.
