November NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $2.238 on Monday, Ocotber 21st

Monday, October 21st saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.263, nearly six cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.320.  Trading near $2.300 an hour ahead of 9:00AM, prices then plummeted in the following hour and through the opening bell to record a ten-day intraday low of $2.213 at 9:10AM.  Attempting to bounce back in the following hours, the contract rose to $2.245 by 11:00AM and traded along this mark for the balance of the day.  The $2.20 level has served as base in the past few weeks as traders attempt to gauge the arrival and impact of colder temperatures.  November closed lower on Monday at $2.238.

As of 8:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 49 cents; Natural Gas was up two cents; Heating Oil was up one cent; and Gasoline was up slightly.
