March NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $1.837 on Friday, February 14th

Friday, February 14th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.827, just above Thursday’s closing price of $1.826. Ascending from the day’s intraday low as markets opened, frigid short-term temperatures continued to provide support ahead of the long weekend. Petering out at the intraday high of $1.854 shortly after 10:00AM, the contract traded within a penny of the $1.840 level for the balance of the day to close higher on Friday at $1.837, down roughly 1% on the week.

The CME/NYMEX trading floor was closed on Monday, February 17th, in observation of Presidents’ Day.

As of 8:55AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 99 cents; Natural Gas was up 12 cents; Heating Oil was down 4 cents; and Gasoline was up 1 cent.
