May NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $1.791 on Monday, April 22nd

Monday, April 22nd saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.770, two cents above Friday’s closing price of $1.752. The contract found itself range-bound once again yesterday as competing fundamentals saw prices trade along $1.780 throughout the day. Marking the intraday high of $1.765 at 9:15AM and intraday high of $1.793 near midday and again ahead of 2:30PM, May closed higher on Monday at $1.791.

The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published last Thursday showed a 50 BCF injection to storage for the week ended April 12 – below the market estimate 56 BCF. Total working gas in storage was reported as 2,333 BCF; 22.2% above this time last year and 36.4% above the five-year average.

As of 6:10AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up three cents; Natural Gas was up one cent; Heating Oil was down one cent; and Gasoline was down one cent.
