May NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $1.690 on Monday, March 30th

On Monday, March 30th – the May NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract began trading as the prompt month.  Opening at $1.632, four cents below Friday’s closing price of $1.671, a momentary dip to an intraday low of $1.627 saw prices then step higher into the morning.  Leveling off near $1.660 by 11:00AM and trading sideways into the afternoon, analysts are being tasked with evaluating how markets will be impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic as businesses shutdown and people stay home.  Gaining traction in the session’s closing minutes, May tallied an intraday high of $1.695 before closing higher on Monday at $1.690.

As of 7:35AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $1.55; Natural Gas was up three cents; Heating Oil was up three cents; and Gasoline was up two cents.
