May NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $1.753 on Friday, April 17th

Friday, April 17th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.749, six cents above Thursday’s closing price of $1.686.  Continuing the previous session’s momentum, prices surged to an intraday high of $1.806 by 9:30AM.  Withdrawing to trade along either side of $1.780 in the subsequent two hours, the contract slipped downward near midday to record an intraday low of $1.736.  Posting a second failed rally throughout the afternoon, May closed higher on Friday at $1.753.

As of 7:50AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $6.93; Natural Gas was down four cents; Heating Oil was down three cents; and Gasoline was down one cent.
