November NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $3.198 on Monday, October 29th

On Monday, October 29th – settlement day for the November contract – the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts opened at $3.154, three cents below Friday’s closing price of $3.185.  Facing downward pressure due to mild forecasts through early November, prices moved lower overnight and tallied a four-week intraday low of $3.100 by 9:40AM.  Recovering over the balance of the day in an effort to reclaim the $3.20 mark, November reached the intraday high of $3.199 on Monday before settling at $3.185.  Facing similar volatility, the December contract closed lower at $3.198.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 73 cents; Natural Gas was up four cents; Heating Oil was down three cents; and, Gasoline was down one cent.  Additionally, cash prices were higher in New York and New England.
