September NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $2.448 on Friday, August 21st

Friday, August 21st saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.324, a penny below Thursday’s closing price of $2.352.  Falling to an intraday low $2.280 by 9:30AM, prices then surged higher to surpass 2.320 by 10:30AM and $2.380 by midday.  Supported by persistent heat in parts of the country, and the formation of two tropical storms, the contract rose to an intraday high of $2.468 ahead of closing.  September closed higher on Friday at $2.448, up nearly 4% on the week.

As of 8:00AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 42 cents; Natural Gas was up one cent; Heating Oil was up three cents; and Gasoline was up three cents.
