September NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $3.946 on Monday, August 16th

Monday, August 16th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $3.932, seven cents above Friday’s closing price of $3.861.  Marking the intraday low of $3.929 within minutes of opening, prices rose in the following fifty minutes to tally an intraday high of $3.988. Trading within a tight band near $3.955 for the balance of the day, some traders have their eyes set on reduced cooling demand as fall is within reach, while others focused on waning LNG demand.  September closed higher on Monday at $3.946.

As of 6:40AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 33 cents; Natural Gas was down six cents; Heating Oil was down slightly; and Gasoline was unchanged.
