Monday, July 22nd saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at 2.278, nearly three cents above Friday’s closing price of $2.251. Touching down to the intraday low of $2.265 as markets opened, prices got a bullish start to the day, reaching above $2.300 by 10:00AM. Fluctuating within a tight band into the afternoon, the contract then jumped to an intraday high of $2.322 at 12:40PM. Supported by bullish forecasts for the beginning of August and the possibility of a tropical storm forming in the Gulf of Mexico, August closed higher on Monday at $2.312.
As of 8:40AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 15 cents; Natural Gas was unchanged; Heating Oil was unchanged; and Gasoline was up one cent.
