Monday, April 8th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.684, two cents above Friday’s closing price of $2.664. Climbing from the intraday low of $2.683 as markets opened, the contract rose steadily through the morning to reach the intraday high of $2.721 at 11:40AM. With little change to forecasts, yesterday’s recovery was likely due to traders squaring their positions. Hovering near the $2.71 level as the afternoon drew on, May closed higher on Monday at $2.708.
As of 8:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 16 cents; Natural Gas was unchanged; Heating Oil was down slightly; and Gasoline was up one cent.
