Monday, September 21st saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.946 ten cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.048 on Friday. Declining rapidly as markets opened, the threat of tropical storm Beta did little in the way of providing support as prices fell to an eight-week intraday low of $1.795 by 10:40AM. A recovery effort saw the contract surpass $1.925 ahead of midday, only to collapse once again soon thereafter. The October contract closed lower on Monday at $1.835.
As of 8:40AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 29 cents; Natural Gas was down one cent; Heating Oil was up slightly; and Gasoline was down slightly.
