Monday, March 9th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.653, five cents below Friday’s closing price of $1.708. Opening at a fresh multi-year intraday low, prices moved dramatically higher to reach $1.746 by 9:20AM as markets expect a reduction to natural gas production. Slipping below $1.680 an hour later, the contract mounted at secondary ascent at 11:30AM that persisted through the balance of the day. Reaching an intraday high of $1.791 ahead of 2:30PM, April closed higher on Monday at $1.778.
As of 8:50AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $2.66; Natural Gas was up six cents; Heating Oil was up eight cents; and Gasoline was up six cents.
