Friday, January 10th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.193, three cents above Thursday’s closing price of $2.166. Rallying from the intraday low of $2.192 soon after the opening bell, the contract posted a steady ascent into the day as forecasts for colder temperatures towards the end of the month have emerged. Possibly gaining additional support by short covering, prices rose to a ten-day intraday high of $2.234 at 12:40PM. February closed higher on Friday at $2.202, up seven cents on the week.
As of 8:50AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up seven cents; Natural Gas was up one cent; Heating Oil was up slightly; and Gasoline up slightly.
