Friday, September 11th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.294, three cents below Thursday’s closing price of $2.323. Jumping to an intraday high of $2.335 within minutes of the opening bell, prices fell to trade near $2.275 by 10:00AM and persisted along this mark into the afternoon. Attempting to hold back additional losses as shoulder-month weather reduces demand and no tropical storms are currently threatening, the October contract finished 12% lower on the week, closing at $2.269 on Friday.
As of 8:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down 34 cents; Natural Gas was up ten cents; Heating Oil was down slightly; and Gasoline was down one cent.
