Thursday, March 6th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $4.395, down $0.055 compared to Wednesday’s closing price of $4.450. Recording the intraday high as markets opened, the contract traded along $4.360 leading up to the weekly storage publication. Dipping to the intraday low of $4.266 as the bearish report hit the wire, prices remained subdued for the balance of the session. April closed lower on Thursday at $4.302.
The EIA Natural Gas Storage Report published on Thursday posted an 80 BCF withdrawal from storage for the week ended February 28 – below the market estimate of a 97 BCF withdrawal. Total working gas in storage was reported as 1,760 BCF; 24.9% below this time last year and 11.3% below the five-year average.
As of 7:05AM this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $0.950; Natural Gas was down $0.111; Heating Oil was up $0.022; and Gasoline was up $0.026.
