Monday, January 11th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.668, three cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.700. Slipping to an intraday low of $2.620, buyers then entered the market and drove the contract higher through the balance of the day. Crossing midday near $2.662, prices jumped to an intraday high of $2.762 at 2:10PM as reports of a possible polar vortex situation has been reported for the end of the month. The February contract closed higher on Monday at $2.747.
As of 7:00AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 70 cents; Natural Gas was up eight cents; Heating Oil was up two cents; and Gasoline was up two cents.
