February NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts Closed at $2.950 on Tuesday, January 29th

On Tuesday, January 29th – settlement day for the February contract – the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts opened at $2.820, five cents below Monday’s closing price of $2.873.  Ascending from the intraday low as markets opened, prices surpassed the $2.88 level near 11:00AM and traded sideways into midday.  Stepping gradually higher until marking the intraday high of $2.970 at 2:10PM, the February contract proceeded to settle at $2.950 on Tuesday.  Taking over prompt month position this morning, the March contract also finished higher on Tuesday at $2.903.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 62 cents; Natural Gas was down four cents; Heating Oil was up one cent; and Gasoline was up two cents.
