Tuesday, May 28th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.548, five cents below Friday’s closing price of $2.598. Mounting a recovery effort early on as short-term weather forecasts turned bearish over the long weekend, prices rose from an intraday low of $2.541 at 9:20AM. Reaching $2.575 by 10:30AM, the contract proceeded to seesaw along this mark for the balance of the day. Tallying the intraday high of $2.587 at 12:20PM, June closed lower on Tuesday at $2.582. The more heavily traded July contract closed roughly three cents lower at $2.584.
As of 8:50AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $1.80; Natural Gas was up three cents; Heating Oil was down four cents; and Gasoline was down five cents.
