Tuesday, February 11th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $1.772, slightly above Monday’s closing price of $1.766. Falling to an intraday low of $1.764 by 9:10AM, the contract then began a choppy ascent that spanned well into the afternoon. Despite bearish forecasts, and updated long-term forecasts for a mild February, prices rose to peak at an intraday high of $1.789 ahead of 2:30PM. March closed higher on Tuesday at $1.788.
As of 8:45AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up $1.12; Natural Gas was up four cents; Heating Oil was up four cents; and Gasoline was up five cents.
