Friday, August 9th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.068, six cents below Thursday’s closing price of $2.128. Following a selloff prior to the opening bell, prices fell to an in-traday low of $2.064 within minutes of 9:00AM. Reclaiming overnight losses within the following minutes, the contract rocketed back to the $2.11 level, reaching as high as $2.140 by 10:00AM. Fluctuating within two cents of $2.125 over the balance of the day, September rose to an intraday high of $2.145 at 12:50PM, closing slightly lower on Friday at $2.128.
As of 9:07 EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up two cents; Natural Gas was up two cents; Heat-ing Oil was down one cent; and Gasoline was down one cent.
