Monday, May 16th saw the June NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $7.849, nearly nineteen cents above Friday’s closing price of $7.663. Surging upward after the opening bell to tally a ten-day intraday high of $8.183, struggling production and steady European demand provided a volatile catalyst. Losing ground for the balance of the morning to cross $7.950 by 11:30AM, price dipped further to bottom out at the intraday low of $7.663 at 12:30PM. Posting a steady recovery to close out the day, June finished higher on Monday at $7.956.
As of 6:35AM EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 62 cents; Natural Gas was up 18 cents; Heating Oil was up four cents; and Gasoline was up slightly.
