September NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract Closed at $2.147 on Tuesday, August 13th

Tuesday, August 13th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contract open at $2.126, just above Monday’s closing price of $2.121. The price quickly moved up, and then down to its intraday low of $2.119 at 10:00AM. The price then rapidly escalated to its intraday high of $2.175 at 11:00AM. After reaching its high, the price buoyed for the rest of the afternoon, closing at $2.147. According to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, there are tropical cyclones expected in the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic over the next 48 hours.

As of 8:56 EST this morning in Globex, WTI Crude was down $1.65; Natural Gas was up two cents; Heating Oil was down four cents; and Gasoline was down four cents.
